The Greenburgh Town Board held a special meeting yesterday afternoon and voted to approve the 3% hotel tax authorized by the Governor and members of the NYS Legislature. The law goes into effect on February 1. The revenue from guests who travel to Greenburgh will be used to keep taxes in unincorporated Greenburgh down. We anticipate receiving as much as a million dollars a year in additional revenue as a result of this vote. Special thanks to State Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins and Assemblyman Tom Abinanti who pushed hard for the legislative approvals and to Governor Cuomo who signed the law helping the town. Cities and counties in NYS had received authorization in previous years to impose a 3% hotel tax on guests. The implementation legislation we approved is modeled on the legislation in other communities. FERNCLIFF CEMETERY ON SECOR ROAD IN THE NEWS AGAIN... A front page headline in the NY POST said "Toto We're not in Hartsdale Anymore." The Post was referring to the fact that actress and singer Judy Garland's body was moved to LA at the request of family members who wanted to be near her. Judy Garland is not the only celebrity to be buried at Ferncliff-- a cemetery located on Secor Road in Hartsdale that was founded in 1902. Malcolm X, Joan Crawford, Ed Sullivan, Cab Calloway, Betty Furness, Tom Carvel, Moms Mabley and many others have chosen Ferncliff for their final resting place. PAUL FEINER
