AUCTION OF TOWN OWNED PROPERTIES TO TAKE PLACE ON NOVEMBER 14
Release Date: November 03, 2017

Greenburgh is planning a public auction of 54 town owned properties and will sell the properties to the highest bidder. The properties were turned over to the town by a Judge in a foreclosure process. Originally, close to 400 property owners owed back taxes. I sent out at least 9 letters to each of the property owners who owed back taxes  begging them to take advantage of offers to help. I suggested that they  work out payment agreements. I met with many of the property owners, some more than once, —put them in touch with non profit organizations (such as Westchester Residential Opportunities in White Plains).  And did everything possible to help them avoid foreclosure. We were able to reduce the  list of almost 400 properties to 54 properties.

The auction will be held Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at Greenburgh Town Hall, 177 Hillside Ave.

Registration for interested bidders begins at 10 a.m.

The properties include single-family homes, apartments, vacant properties in both commercial and residential neighborhoods, and underwater lands.

The properties were seized in tax foreclosure procedings. The "upset price" — the amount owed to the lender on the properties — varies from $160 to $826,200.

Anyone interested in participating can review specifics through the link which is attached.

For information on specific properties call attorney Michael Pflaum at 914-989-1615.

The town has to wait at least two years before we can begin foreclosure proceedings against those property owners who owe back taxes
