New owner of Elmwood Country Club wants to develop property as residential town houses for those 55
Release Date: January 20, 2018

NEW OWNER OF ELMWOOD COUNTRY CLUB (NO LONGER A COUNTRY CLUB) WANTS TO DEVELOP PROPERTY AS RESIDENTIAL TOWN HOUSES FOR BUYERS 55 AND OVER--PROPOSES DONATION OF 14 ACRES TO TOWN

On Tuesday morning, during the Greenburgh Town Board work session, Board members will listen to the new owners of the property that previously was owned by the Elmwood Country Club on Dobbs Ferry Road (a club that no longer exists).
The owners want to discuss with the Town Board the possibility of amending the Zoning Code to discuss the development of residential town houses for buyers 55 and over.  They are also proposing to donate 14 acres of the property of land that previously was owned by Elmwood to the town east of the Con Ed power lines to the town to expand our parks.
The   owners are proposing buffers of at least 200 feet between regulatory properties and the new units. The Town Board meets on Tuesday at 10 AM. Our meetings are televised on public access TV and streamed live on the web: www.greenburghny.com. We also archive our meetings so residents who can't attend the meeting in person or who can't watch the meeting live can also watch the discussion.
Tuesday morning's discussion is ONLY a preliminary discussion.  If the property owner decides to pursue the application environmental reviews and public hearings will be scheduled. I have been in touch with the President of the local neighborhood association. The civic association worked closely with the town -helping the town successfully come up with a plan for the redevelopment of the abandoned Frank's nursery into an assisted living facility.  And, we're hoping to work closely with the neighborhood reviewing possible property uses for Elmwood as well.
A copy of the letter that was received is attached.  Your thoughts are always welcome on all proposed development applications.
