Mentors wanted for RJ Bailey School to mentor students
Release Date: February 25, 2018

Call for Volunteers!!

The Richard J. Bailey School in the Greenburgh Central School District is seeking volunteers to serve as Mentors to 4th grade students.  I received an e mail from the New York State Mentoring program advising that they need to find 3 to 5 more volunteers who can mentor students.

The program was  launched in January with volunteer mentors meeting on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00 at the school.  Sessions will occur weekly until the end of the school year except on school holidays, vacations and snow days.  Mentors can sign up in the summer to return for the 2018-2019 school year.  This program will have approximately 16 sessions between January and May.

Mentors will be matched 1-to-1 with a student and engage in team building exercises, discussion topics, conversation and fun.  The session is supervised and supported by a school staff person who is there to ensure mentors and students have a good experience.

Mentors are asked to bring a positive attitude to the sessions and to provide guidance, support and encouragement to their student.  Mentors must be able to attend most sessions but occasional absences are allowed.

This is an easy and fun way to have a major impact on a student in Greenburgh.  Please contact the school with questions or to volunteer.
