3rd year report: Paws Crossed --the no kill animal shelter in Greenburgh
Release Date: September 24, 2018

Paws Crossed recently celebrated their third anniversary. The no kill animal shelter is located in Greenburgh on Warehouse Lane. It's a special place and the town of Greenburgh was instrumental in helping Paws Crossed open up their shelter at this location.

I attended the third anniversary celebration and took the attached photos. I was impressed how many people were waiting on line to adopt a pet (see photo of lines) and also was impressed how clean the shelter is and how passionate the volunteers and staff are about the shelter.
Jennifer Angelucci,President/CEO of Paws Crossed provided me with the following info.

Below is a breakdown of the numbers of dogs and cats rescued and adopted since their inception. I thought it was important to include the notes for you to better understand the differences in numbers.

- The majority of dogs and cats come from high-kill shelters. They focus on rescuing from the community, NYC, Georgia and the Cayman Islands.
- A better indication of adoptions would be by month since so much changes weekly. Last year Paws Crossed averaged about 57 dog and cat adoptions per month!
- Adopting a pet is simple! They have an application that every potential adopter has to fill out, asking some basic care questions and seeking a few different references.
- All of the adoption prices vary depending on the pet and age. Typically a dog/puppy adoption ranges from 325-400 and typically a cat/kitten adoption ranges from 150-250
- All pets that are adopted are up to date on age appropriate vaccinations (excluding rabies), microchipped, dewormed, spayed or neutered and we give 30 day trial of pet insurance.
- If anyone is interested in volunteering, all you'd have to do is sign up for an orientation right on the Paws Crossed website. They have a general orientation that everyone has to take and then two separate shorter orientations, dog and cat, to work with each.
- Their  immediate goals are to increase intake, increase adoptions (which we are working on with a transport van that should be arriving in the coming months), expanding our education programs, partnering with Meals on Wheels to provide pet food to those in need, and building a stronger presence in the community. Their longer term goals are to open the front section of the building which will include more cat rooms, adoption rooms, a medical suite, and small retail area. Once all of this is complete They hope to be able to open a full service animal hospital on property! (5-6 years down the road!)
