TOMORROW....HONOR DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BY ATTENDING ONE OF THESE EVENTS...

 

AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN OF WESTCHESTER SPONSORING THEIR ANNUAL LUNCHEON TOMORROW AT THE DOUBLETREE HOTEL IN TARRYTOWN--11:30 TO 2 pm

 

 

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Legacy Awards Luncheon Monday, January 21st, 2019, 11:30AM - 2PM.
AAMW sponsored the first Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Family Day Celebration over 20 years ago to celebrate the life & teachings of Dr. King. This event became the largest of its kind in Westchester, & indeed the northeast, attracting over 5,000 people over the years from every walk of life to keep Dr. King’s message of service to mankind alive. Currently we focus young people in the county who have demonstrated a commitment to the teachings of Dr. King (& the event was renamed The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Youth Awards). Over 500 people attend this event and over to honor 120 young people have received Legacy Youth Awards since the program’s inception. This group of young people represents every socioeconomic strata, & geographic region of the county.
 
 Andre Rainey, Mayor of the city of Peekskill will be the keynote speaker of the 26th Annual Thomas H. Slater Community Center Martin Luther King Jr., Breakfast, Monday, January 21st at 8am. The annual fundraising breakfast in celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will be held at the Crown Plaza, located 66 Hale Avenue in White Plains.
 
Hastings on Hudson holds their annual MLK community breakfast tomorrow January 21 from 9:15 AM to noon at the James Harmon Community Center. Vanessa Merton, a Professor at the Elizabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University is the speaker.
 

CANCELLATION  Former Greenburgh Councilwoman Eddie Mae Barnes advises...that a MLK Literary Celebration has been rescheduled for Feb 3rd. The event was originally scheduled for Monday at the Jay Heritage Center with authors Jennifer Jones Austin and Alexis Clark. The annual Literacy Tea is organized by the American Women of African Heritage (AWAH). Those interested in attending should send a check made out to AWAH, Inc and mail to PO BOx 376, White Plains, NY. Ticket price is $70.  Those who previously purchased the ticket for Monday's event will be honored on the rescheduled day.
