The town of Greenburghwill be sponsoring a creative Valentines Day Intergenerational Valentines Day Celebration for seniors and toddlers. The event will take place this Tuesday, February 14th from 11 AMto 2 PMat the TheodoreYoungCommunity Center. Seniors will participate. Toddlers at the Union Child Day Care Center will also take advantage of the program and enjoy a live performance by “the Mixed Nuts” Band. For further information please call 989-3622. George Coniglio, our hard working senior citizen coordinator at the TheodoreYoungCommunity Center, is coordinating the event. I suggested this intergenerational day event after watching the TODAY show a few weeks ago. There was a segment about a growing national trend. Toddlers participate and attend senior programs. It’s good for everyone. Seniors enjoy playing with kids, especially if their grandchildren don’t live in the area. Parents get a break when a senior is playing with their child. And, the children enjoy the extra attention from the seniors. It’s our hope that the event on Valentine’s Day will be the start of many inter-generational programs for seniors and toddlers.
