Verizon cable TV franchise agreement could be voted on in September...
Release Date: August 11, 2006

The Greenburgh Town Board held an important public hearing on Wednesday night, August 9, on a proposed franchise agreement with Verizon that could bring cable TV competition to Greenburgh residents. Some of the members of the Town Board had some concerns about the proposed franchise agreement. Meetings will be arranged in the near future with Verizon to address these issues. It’s my hope that the Town Board can vote on the agreement in September so that residents can finally have cable TV competition. I believe that it is possible to make appropriate contract changes to the Town Board’s satisfaction. Once cable TV competition arrives Greenburgh residents will have access to Verizon FiOS TV. Competition will enable residents to enjoy lower rates and better service.

During my tenure as Town Supervisor I have written to almost every cable TV provider in the nation seeking cable TV competition. This is the closest we have ever been to making competition happen.
