POSITIVE OUTLOOK - EFFORTS TO SAVE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL AT DOBBS FERRY
Release Date: February 26, 2007

Possible good news! An article in todays issue of the Westchester County Business Journal (westchestercountybusinessjournal.com) reports that a meeting with state health officials earlier this month has left the chief executive officer of CommunityHospitalat Dobbs Ferry more hopeful that the health care provider can survive the death sentence recommended by the Berger Commission.

The article quotes Jim Foy, president of Riverside Health Care System, saying that he had a very good meeting with state officials.  On February 13th a top Spitzer health official spoke to representatives of the Business Council of Westchester and also seemed positive about the future of the hospital. A report about the Business Council meeting was published last week in the Business Journal. The article mentioned that the hospital could be kept open as an urgent care center and ambulatory care center.

I would like to thank our new State Senator, Andrea Stewart-Cousins, for her hard work –trying to save the hospital. She has been working overtime –bringing the issues concerning the hospital to the attention of the highest ranking decision makers at the state level. Recently, the Senator arranged for the Minority Leader of the NY State Senate to tour the hospital with hospital officials and elected leaders.
