25 September 2002

Dear Resident:

The purpose of this correspondence is to provide you with information concerning some intermittent road closures planned for your neighborhood for Thursday, September 26th.  We apologize for this untimely notification, however, we only learned of this on Wednesday afternoon.  These closures will be necessary in order to transport building material to the construction site at Edgemont High School and will occur intermittently throughout the day as outlined in this correspondence.  We have attempted to schedule the closures so as to have the least impact on the morning and afternoon rush hours.  Please pay close attention to the times during which the closures may occur as they could impact on your ability to access the train station or other points.  The closures will be necessary in order that a large crane and 15 tractor trailers loaded with pre-cast cement forms can be transported to the work site.  The vehicles carrying these materials will exit Route 287 at Exit 4 and proceed southerly down Knollwood Road/West Hartsdale Avenue to East Hartsdale Avenue and then to Old Colony Road.  When unloaded, they will leave the construction site returning to East Hartsdale Avenue utilizing Old Colony Road.  Closures should be limited to East Hartsdale Avenue and Old Colony Road.

East Hartsdale Avenue and Old Colony Road – Permission has been received from the Town Clerk for the vehicles to begin accessing the site at 5:30 a.m.  The crane and 4 or 5 tractor trailers will be brought to the site between 5:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., these construction vehicles will not be allowed to utilize our roads which should permit a close to normal morning rush hour.  After 9:00 a.m., vehicles will intermittently access the site until all material is delivered.  It is believed that the process will be completed by 5:00 p.m.; however, no deliveries will be allowed between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. to provide for as normal an evening rush as possible.

Parking – Residents of Old Colony Road should not park vehicles on the roadway between 5:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26th to ensure that the delivery vehicles have sufficient clearance to access the street.
