SHOULD TOWN BAN GAS POWERED LEAF BLOWING EQUIPMENT-like YONKERS AND SCARSDALE?
Release Date: May 06, 2007

I received the following e mail from a constituent about banning gas powered leaf blowing equipment in Greenburgh. I have also received calls from residents about the same matter. I would welcome your input and feedback about the proposal to ban leaf blowing equipment in Greenburgh. E mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com with your thoughts and comments. You can also post comments on my blog: www.pfeiner.blogspot.com.
Leaf blower noise impacts our quality of life.
PAUL FEINER
Greenburgh Town Supervisor

You may not be aware of this, but the City of Yonkers has just issued a total ban on all gas powered leaf blowing equipment from June 1st to Sept. 30th.  Violators will be subject to fines.  As you know,  Scarsdale has already done this, and strictly enforces it's law.

There is no down side to Greenburgh adopting a regulation like this.  The result of this action would mean that gas and noise pollution would be stopped in its tracks, and our neighborhood could become a place of tranquility.  The workers in our neighborhoods also work in the outlying areas.  As they already have to abide by the rules of the adjoining towns, there is certainly no hardship involved for them,  and their businesses could carry on in a safe and pollution free manner in our town as well.

Please consider this information when deciding on my proposal.
