MEETING TUESDAY AT 8 TO DISCUSS E HARTSDALE AVE FLOODING..RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STUDY MAY 23RD
Release Date: May 15, 2007

PLEASE ATTEND MEETING ON TUESDAY TO DISCUSS E HARTSDALE AVE FLOODING

I have called a special meeting this Tuesday at 8 PM to discuss the E Hartsdale Ave flooding problem. We need to discuss long term/short term approaches to reduce the possibilities of another major storm/shutdown of businesses on E Hartsdale Ave.The meeting will take place at Greenburgh Town Hall.
In addition, I plan to introduce a resolution at the next meeting of the Greenburgh Town Board (May 23rd) authorizing the commencement of a study to determine the reasons why the avenue experienced so much flooding. The independent consultants should also be asked to propose short term and long term recommendations. We can't delay the study Some of the businesses are starting to come back ( the liquor store and Big Top opened Friday, Lia's and Harry's restaurants are expected to open within the next two weeks). However, if there is another storm and if things are not done differently, there could be a repeat of this incident. That would be horrible!
I will also discuss on Tuesday the suggestion to place a temporary library on E Hartsdale Ave to help bring more street traffic to the hamlet. Without street traffic, I fear that more stores will go under. This is a way for the town to help existing businesses survive. So far- many merchants and residents who I have spoken to are enthusiastic about the  temporary library suggestion.
