NEW BLOGSPOT: keepgreenburghgreen.blogspot.com
Release Date: May 23, 2007

Rob Hevern, a senior at IrvingtonHigh School, is interning in my office. He has started a new blog: KEEPGREENBURGHGREEN.BLOGSPOT.COM highlighting the need to keep Greenburgh green and clean. He is driving around town taking photo’s of debris along roads. Last night we held a meeting at Town Hall –we’re starting a Keep Greenburgh Green task force that will continue the work after he completes his internship. Rob will be attending Fordham in the fall.

If you take digital photo’s of debris in your neighborhood – we’ll post them on the blog. Please e mail Rob at rhevern@gmail.com or me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com. If you want Rob to stop by to take look at the debris please contact us and he’ll take a look and photo. He will also reach out to the state, county or town to have the debris cleared up.

Some of the debris are along state, county right of ways. Central Ave, Route 119, Dobbs Ferry Road, 9A, parts of Jackson Ave, Ardsley Roadare not town roads. When we get complaints from residents about debris on roads the town will follow up immediately.  Although government can pick up debris on the roads – it’s impossible to make sure that every road is clean 100% of the time. In the past we have sent crews out to clean up roads. Minutes later, after the crews leave, people start littering again.

Part of Rob’s project is to come up with a plan of action—we’re looking for suggestions, ideas, possible legislation, citizen volunteers, etc…  So –your suggestions are welcome.

Today, Rob will be taking photo’s of bus stop locations around Greenburgh. Last night residents who participated in a meeting suggested more garbage cans at the bus stops. Rob will be making a presentation to the Greenburgh Town Boardtonight at 7:15 PM—announcing his new initiative.
