SPECIAL BOARD MEETING NEEDED TO QUALIFY FOR GRANT MONEY
Release Date: September 12, 2007

A special meeting has been scheduled for Friday, September 14, 2007 at 5:30 PM. As discussed at yesterday's regularly scheduled weekly work session, which Supervisor Feiner did not attend, only three items will appear on the agenda -- setting the date for a future public hearing and to allow two block parties to occur that are scheduled to be held before the next regular town board meeting. The neighbors forgot to request permission in advance from the Town Board for the street closings and we would prefer not to tell them they can't hold their annual celebrations. There was never an agenda with anything else on it and, as agreed yesterday, no other items will be added.

Councilman Steve Bass told the other members of the board at yesterday's work session that he would be unable to attend a special meeting on Friday, but understood the need to hold this very important special meeting so that we could set the public hearing required to qualify for 100s of thousands of dollars of grant money for affordable housing. The necessary public hearing must be held on September 26, at our next regular Town Board meeting, which means it must be legally noticed by this Sunday, September 16. Therefore, Friday, is the last work day when a special meeting could take place to set the public hearing to qualify for the funds.
