2008 PROPOSED BUDGET DEPT REQUESTS DUE THIS WEEK- TAXPAYERS TO START PAYING FOR LIBRARY
Release Date: September 23, 2007

Every department head will be submitting their 2008 proposed budgets to me this week. Once I receive the department budget requests I will start working on the proposed budget. I am  required to submit the proposed budget to the Town Board by the end of October. The Board has until December 20th to approve (or modify) the budget.
In 2005 voters approved a $20 million dollar library referendum. Because  the start of the construction of the library was delayed till 2007 - taxpayers did not feel the impact of the library construction this past  year. The 2008 proposed budget will be the first year voters actually start to pay for the costs of the library.
I am planning to create a small working task force that will assist me with the proposed budget. If you have any financial background and are interested in being part of our budget team -  please e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com.
