DRUG AND ALCOHOL TASK FORCE
Release Date: December 17, 2002

l2/l7 GREENBURGH, VILLAGES ANNOUNCE DRUG AND ALCOHOL TASK FORCE-- The police departments of the Town of Greenburgh, villages of Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings, Irvington and Tarrytown announced the formation of a Drug and Alcohol Task Force. The goal: To reduce the illegal sale and possession of alcohol, marijuana, controlled substances within unincorporated Greenburgh and the villages. Underage drinking and drug use is a leading factor in the death of people under the age of 2l. It makes our streets dangerous. Children are traveling across jurisdictional lines to purchase alcohol. Local offenders are familiar with local police departments, which hampers undercover operations by that local department. Additionally, drug trafffickers often move between jurisdictions, which create jurisdictional difficulties for the local department. The Task Force will allow the pooling and sharing of personnel, equipment and intelligence and allow for cohesive investigations. A party buster hotline is being expanded throughout the town: 693 5666. Congratulations to Chief Longworth of the Dobbs Ferry Police Department for suggesting the concept.......
