GOOD NEWS--WE'RE GOING TO WORK HARD TO BRING CRICKET TO OUR COMMUNITIES water main break update
Release Date: January 25, 2019

Water main break on Payne Street today.  Payne by Sears. Crews on site. Anticipated repairs should take a few hours.

Two weeks ago residents of Greenburgh attended a Town Board meeting asking for a cricket field. I was very impressed – the turnout of cricket advocates pressing for cricket fields was large. And those advocating for the fields were very passionate about how much they love the sport. .

Baseball may be thought of as an American sport but cricket actually predates it. Cricket was played here in the United States even before our country became independent.

In the United States there are over 25,000 active players who are members of more than 50 leagues and 1,100 clubs across the United States. There are over 600 playing fields in the US. Am trying to help the cricket community locate additional fields. If you’re interested in the game please advise and we will keep you updated.  If you can think of possible additional fields for the cricket community to play at anywhere in the town or county, that, too, would be appreciated. A committee has been formed and we will include representatives of the cricket community on our Parks & Recreation Advisory Board.

For more info check: www.usacricket.org or usaca.org.

Cricket is very popular in the Indian, Pakistan, Caribbean communities, Australia, England, Ireland, South African communities. Greenburgh is a diverse community and we want those who enjoy the game to be able to experience it close to home.
