NYS Lt.Governor Kathy Hocul spends 2 hours on E Hartsdale Ave and TDYCC yesterday
Release Date: July 01, 2015

Yesterday, New York State Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul spent about two hours in Greenburgh. She spent some time meeting with merchants and residents on E Hartsdale Ave. And, then we spent time visiting the Theodore Young Community Center –interacting with swimmers, staff, camper’s, senior citizens.  I was very pleased that the Lt. Governor (who was selected as Governor Andrew Cuomo’s running mate last year) decided to spend quality time in our town and believe that she got a taste of why Greenburgh is a special place.

I also discussed with the Lt.Governor our police summer youth camp—which promotes positive interaction with the police and youth and told her about the partnership the town and Greenburgh school district has: preparing students for high tech jobs after they graduate from school. The Lt. Governor was pleased that Greenburgh has complied with the NYS tax cap—which limits tax increases.  The State Legislature extended the tax cap before they adjourned last week. The tax cap is motivating governments to explore shared service opportunities and other cost savings measures which will make government more efficient.

It’s important to have a good relationship with the state government. Last week our town got great news: the NYS Legislature approved the hotel tax for Greenburgh—which could generate six figures of additional revenue for the town (Thank you, State Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins and Assemblyman Tom Abinanti!).  The NYS DOT appropriated $2 million dollars for additional needed studies which will lead to the construction of the  much needed 9A bypass.    LINK TO THE FIOS story about the Lt. Governor’s visit below…
