The new indoor tennis bubble at E Rumbrook Park off of Dobbs Ferry Road (across from Frank's nursery) will hold their grand opening ceremony at noon today. They will also be sponsoring a free tennis clinic from 12 to 2 PM. The town is leasing the 2 tennis courts to a private tennis court operator to run the facility between the months of October to the end of April each year.
The Town Board will approve a resolution this Wednesday night that we will send to the United States Congress expressing strong opposition to the proposed elimination of the federal income tax deduction for state and local taxes. The Village of Irvington also approved a similar resolution. During the past week I have met with other municipal officials, have written to the Governor's office, reached out to State Legislators asking the Governor to call a special session to enable taxpayers in Greenburgh and the rest of the county to prepay part of their 2018 taxes before the end of the year. In the event that a good portion of the deduction is eliminated by the President and Congress - some residents will find it much harder to be able to afford to live here. Published reports indicate that the loss of the deduction will have a negative impact on property values and make it more difficult to sell homes. Other Westchester municipal officials have also received calls from residents who want to pre-pay their 2018 town, county and fire district taxes in December of this year.
You can pay the 2nd half of the school tax in December of this year instead of waiting till January without any additional state legislation. Contact your accountant or financial advisor to make sure this makes financial sense for your family. The reason: You received your tax bill in September. NYS law requires that a warrant be issued before the Receiver of taxes can collect taxes.
