ELMSFORD & FAIRVIEW MEMORIAL DAY ceremonies rain or shine!..Hartsdale on unless heavy rain
Release Date: May 28, 2017

HARTSDALE I received the following e mail from Ed Rush, Fire Chief in Hartsdale. That parade starts at 10 AM from E Hartsdale Ave to the fire house on Central Ave. The fire district sponsors the annual Memorial Day ceremony.

We plan on having the parade and service unless it looks like heavy rain. It is a bit iffy right now. Probably won't make the final call until very early in he morning.
Thanks
Ed

ELMSFORD MEMORIAL DAY PLANS- RAIN OR SHINE

On behalf of the American Legion Butler Johnson Post # 520, the Board of Trustees, the Parade Committee and Myself, I would like to invite you to join us on Monday May 29, 2017 for Elmsford’s 87th Annual Memorial Day Parade and Service.

The Parade will start at 10:30am at Legion Park on East Main Street and go west on Main Street to South Stone Avenue, ending at Village Hall for the Memorial Service.

This year’s Grand Marshal is Michael Fanelli who served in the United States Army.

Following the Parade, the Memorial Service will be held under a tent, rain or shine, to the left of Village Hall, next to the Police Department in Belway Electric’s parking lot.

Following the Service, you are invited for refreshments at the same location.

Bring your family out to enjoy the Parade, Honor the Men & Women that served in our Armed Forces, and share some refreshments with your neighbors.

If the Parade is cancelled due to rain, the Memorial Day Service will be held at the same location under a tent at 11:00am.

FAIRVIEW MEMORIAL DAY PLANS

Paul,
Typically if it rains or if the roadway is wet we cancel the parade portion of the service and just do the main service indoors at our HQ.  The parade typically steps off at 11 and if that doesn't happen then we would start the ceremony in the garage around 11 - 11:15. Either way we will still be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers rain or shine.  I will recheck the weather and make a determination as soon as I can. We will make notifications quickly if there is no need to close the roads due to the weather.

Thanks,
Howard Reiss, Fire Chief Fairview
